Earlier this year, in February 2024, Picture Perfect Window Coverings’ owner and artisan Tabitha Matheson, along with interior decorator Judy O’Donoghue, attended the Oscar-style gala in Dallas, Texas. The pair had been invited and encouraged to attend by the competition organizers, who kept the results under wraps until the grand reveal! Tabitha and Judy had entered the annual Grace Awards competition, which celebrates the creativity, craftsmanship, and uniqueness of designers specializing in custom window treatments. Remarkably, this is the first time a Canadian business has been honoured with this recognition, solidifying Picture Perfect Window Coverings’ position as a leader in Southwestern Ontario and international interior design.

Picture Perfect Window Coverings won the coveted award for an exceptional design combination, showcasing their innovative custom window treatment work on a client’s residence in downtown Paris, Ontario. This project featured an intricate and lavish window treatment that stood out among North America’s finest interior designers, decorators, design firms, and artisans. The stunning drapes incorporated big goblet pleats adorned with hand-sewn beaded pearls, complemented by a blind accented with pearls and Swarovski crystals. The results were truly memorable and absolutely stunning!

Tabitha Matheson expressed her excitement, saying, “For us (Picture Perfect Window Coverings) to win this award was really big. We were up against North America-wide interior designers, interior design firms, and artisans.”

Decorator Judy O’Donoghue shared her insights into the creative process, recalling the project where she suggested to the client, “We could put pearls on your drapes, and how about this crystal?” The client’s enthusiastic response of “yes, yes, yes!” allowed their vision to come to life! The intricate detailing and unique design elements were the keys to their award-winning success, as noted by the judges who evaluated entries without knowing their origin.

Reflecting on the recognition, O’Donoghue said, “It just means the world to have our work acknowledged. What I realized is that we have a body of work that’s exceptional, and I didn’t realize how much so until we were put on the platform with our peers and realized how exceptional we really are.”
